APRèS SKI

CHAMPAGNE PARTY - HIGHLANDS

Cloud Nine, Aspen Highlands (on mountain)

Fondue, raclette, flowing champagne, table dancing and the jagged Maroon Bells Peak in the background - this Colorado experience is so unique, you may even think you have been transported to the Alps. Come for lunch and stay for après ski, or just come for après. Advanced reservations are required for the two seatings -12pm and 2pm - book through Resy.

GRAB A BEER - ASPEN BASE

Ajax Tavern, Silver Queen Gondola Base

A location play that has more than just location. Situated at the base of the Silver Queen Gondola, you literally cannot leave the mountain with out walking by. On a blue bird day, ski in and join the crowd on the patio, perfect for people watching with an outdoor bar, the occasional Veuve Clicquot pop-up, a DJ spinning and bar food - think burgers and truffle fries. On cooler or quieter days, head inside to Chair 9, have drinks or stay for dinner in this pleasant lounge.

GRAB A SANGRIA - SNOWMASS

Venga Venga, Snowmass Mall

You can't miss this slopeside cantina in Snowmass Mall as you make your way to the Base at the end of the day. From the slopes, you can see people gathered round the fire pits enjoying buckets of beer, sangria, and Happy Hour guacamole platters. Great spot to kick back and watch the crowd making their way down.

LIVE MUSIC - SNOWMASS

Limelight Lounge, Snowmass Base Village

New for the 2018-2019 season, Snowmass has its own Limelight Lounge with ski-in ski-out access. Similar to the legendary Limelight Lounge in Aspen, there is chill live music 5 nights a week - schedule is fully lined up. Take advantage of Happy Hour and the woodfired pizzas.

CRAFT COCKTAILS

Hooch, Aspen, 301 E. Hopkins Ave

A favorite for locals and visitors alike, creative cocktails with local ingredients are the draw at this dimly lit speak-easy directly under Meat & Cheese. The Meat & Cheese owners opened Hooch in 2016, applying their approach to food to cocktails. They also have an extensive list of bourbons, craft beers, and tasty bar snacks. The crowd is friendly, atmosphere inviting and you will likely want to stay for at least one more round.

GRAB A BEER (BEST SELECTION)

Hops Culture, Aspen, 414 E. Hyman Ave

Craft beer bliss - this gastropub has over 200 beers, 30 of which are on draught at any given time. The drink menu also incudes wine and cocktails. The menu is provided by iPad to accommodate its large and ever changing nature. Decision overload? Don't worry, try a sampler platter - from the menu or just tell the bartenders what you like. Happy Hour from 3 - 6pm daily is well timed for aprés. Complement your drinks with some comfort food like warm pretzel bites, fries or mini tacos.

FOR THE FAMILY

Paradise Bakery, Aspen, 320 S. Galena St

You've earned this treat! Close to the base of Ajax, this bakery has an impressive selection of cookies, brownies and cakes to go with hot chocolate and coffee. A favorite for kids and adults. The good news - you don't have to wait for après ski to come, its also great for breakfast. Start your day "healthy" with a Morning Glory muffin, or try the quiche muffin for something savory. The bad news - it's a small space, grab and go, as there is no inside seating.

FITNESS FANATICS

Aspen Recreation Center "ARC", Aspen

The Rec Center, 10 minutes from town (0861 Maroon Creek Rd - view map) and accessible by RFTA buses has fun activities for the whole family. There is a fitness center, pool, yoga studio, rock climbing wall, ice skating rink and 30 group fitness options each week. There are many ways to access - daily passes, 10 and 20 packs, 1, 3, 6 month or yearly memberships. Many hotels also have a relationship that provides access here.

BEERS & BURGERS

J Bar, Aspen, Hotel Jerome

This Aspen institution within the Hotel Jerome has the feel of a classic Western Bar. Try for a seat at the dark, wooden bar with the fire in the backdrop. Solid selection of beer, wine and cocktails. Come early, they do not take reservations, but the secret is out and it can get crowded. The burger is a must try and the hummus is a satisfying starter.

LUXURY

The Living Room, Aspen, Hotel Jerome

Comfortable, inviting and luxurious. This aptly named place is welcoming for aprés ski and you will probably want to linger as the sun goes down. Find a plush chair or couch, warm up and settle in to this relaxing room. Great wine list, creative cocktails, local beers and selection of bar snacks. If you need to step outside, there are Canadian Goose Jackets to borrow.
