The Best Places for Après Ski at Palisades Tahoe

The Olympic Village is lively with several classic places to grab a beer and indulge in pizza or nachos. Fine dining, wine and family favorites are also in the heart of the Village. For more variety and late night options, venture to Tahoe City or South Lake. Our top picks are below:

PITCHERS OF BEER

"The Chammy" is almost as iconic at Olympic Valley as the K-22 lift. Located 10 feet from the Base, you pretty much can't leave without passing by this two story bar. The upstairs is called Loft Bar and marked by a stuffed Chamois (kind of like a mountain goat). Pizza and reasonably priced pitchers in a relaxed atmosphere have kept crowds coming for over 50 years. Skiing legends such as Jonny Moseley hang out here too.

FOR THE FAMILY

For a chill scene and delicious thin-crusted pizzas, Fireside Pizza Company in Olympic Village is the spot. They also have pastas and salads (including gluten-free options). Relax outside on the patio and choose from a wide selection of beers. Family dinners here will please all - don't miss the brownie sundae. Takeout is also quick and easy.

FINE DINING

Cozy, rustic eatery with a standout wine list and a fire pit. Come for glass of wine or crafted cocktail - happy hour is from 2-4pm, Monday through Friday. Or come indulge in a meal at what many consider the finest restaurant in Tahoe. The menu changes seasonally and the Chef's Tasting Menu offers four courses.

BEER WITH THE LOCALS

The name fits. This tiny (400 sq ft) bar is a "hole in the wall." For inexpensive beer and cocktails in a cozy setting in the heart of the village, stop on in. It's unpretentious, but be ready to talk skiing with former Olympic medalist athletes while watching 1990s ski videos in the background. Initially intended to be an employee locker room for a next-door restaurant, there are no restrooms.

GRAB A BEER OUTSIDE

On a bluebird day, it's hard to beat the deck at KT Base Bar. Located at the Base of the KT-22 chair lift, this is the spot to kick back and enjoy a beer along with satisfying bar food like nachos and flatbread pizza.

FITNESS FANATICS

Yoga Class

Looking to loosen up before hitting the slopes or stretch out afterwards? Wanderlust Yoga provides yoga tailored to skiing fanatics. The Après Ski Restorative class is the perfect counter to a day in the Extremes. There's plenty to do and be active here during the day if you're craving activity but want some time off the slopes.

LIVELY ATMOSPHERE

Perhaps one of the most-lively après venues in the Olympic Village, this Irish Pub is full of charm. With a full service bar and a wide beer selection, you can find yourself here late into the night reminiscing about your epic day of skiing. The Auld Dubliner is also a great family friendly dinner stop as they have a kids menu along with delicious bar snacks, salads, fish tacos, and burgers.

GRAB A BEER @ALPINE

Last Chair.jpg
Last Chair Bar | Alpine Meadows Base
$$$$

Located in the Main Lodge at the Base of Alpine Meadows, this is a chill spot to grab a beer and recount the day's activities. The scene is fairly mellow but don't plan to stay too long Last Chair tends to shut down quickly and there's more action in Olympic Village.
