Avant Ski

Luxury abounds. Deer Valley offers skiers (and only skiers, there is no snowboarding) the best possible conditions, and the best food - don't miss the turkey chili. Even during seasons with lower snow levels, we have managed to find some softer stuff and avoid rocks. Deer Valley is ideal for families and those just starting out. Its also very accessible, an easy 45 minute drive from Salt Lake City with convenient parking. Hassle free from start to finish – guest services will greet you at the base, take your skis and ensure you’re set – and when you're done, there is complimentary, overnight ski and boot storage. The ski school’s fleet of highly trained instructors provides individual attention to smaller groups. Its not only about the corduroy; experts can have a blast too. There are several bowls with steep terrain and powder stashes (more of the skiers are here for the groomers). The tree skiiing is some of the finest in Utah. Reward yourself with some of the best slope side food in North America and, of course, a luxurious après ski experience.

Quick Take

  • Eat well. You can't have a bad meal here. The turkey chili and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies stack up anywhere

  • Outstanding service; consistently ranked #1 ski resort in North America for Guest Services by SKI Magazine

  • Luxurious accommodations; enjoy ski on / off access to the St. Regis, Stein Eriksen, Montage Bluffs and many large homes

  • Incredible grooming capabilities, the corduroy here is as abundant and fine as it comes

  • The Daly Chutes have some of the steepest terrain in Utah

  • Convenient to reach from almost anywhere, only 45 minutes from SLC Airport which has non-stop flights from 70+ cities

  • Head to Lady Morgan. This area tends to be less crowded and has some of our favorite terrain - Centennial Bowl is not super steep, but the perfectly spaced trees will do wonders for your confidence in the glades

  • Try racing. Find your friends (or rivals) and have a little competition on the Bald Mountain NASTAR course

  • Advanced reservations are recommended, even for Ikon Pass holders, Deer Valley limits ticket sales and can sell out during Peak Periods

  • Park City has a greater range of accommodations and more night life. Its a quick drive and shuttles run regularly. It is also a little more budget friendly.

  • Season Passes come with an Ikon Base Pass with access to another 37 destination resorts

  • Snowboarding is prohibited, if thats your jam, consider near by Park City

  • True expert terrain is limited to a few areas

  • Strict policy against back country skiing

  • This premium service comes at a premium price, relatively more expensive for accommodations and dining than other Utah resorts

  • Après ski scene is mellow though luxurious, but you are only a few minutes from downtown Park City

Deer Valley is a short trip from Salt Lake City, straight East on1-80, just past Park City. We recommend having a car. Parking at the mountain base is easy and free. Cars are helpful to go to downtown Park City and/or visit some of the nearby resorts on the Ikon Pass.
