Lexi Dowdall

Skiing Storyteller, HQ'd in Utah

Lexi is a skier and freelance storyteller based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is the Director of Freeride for the IFSA and contributes as a writer/athlete for Ski Utah. Lexi grew up in Little Cottonwood Canyon with a dad pulling shifts in the emergency medical clinic at Snowbird. (He knows most of her friends very well). Lexi had never skied beyond Utah's borders, until age 18 when she joined the University of Puget Sound's club ski team. Making up for lost time, she explored many resorts in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Now, with a job in the ski industry, she travels all over Canada and the U.S., visiting different mountains and adding ski area trail maps to her growing collection.

Lexi spends the majority of her time at Alta or Snowbird but in the last year she's skied at Beartooth Basin, Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee, Kicking Horse, Sugarbush, Revelstoke, and nearly all the resorts in Utah. Lexi is also an avid backcountry skier. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Lexi spent her time teaching herself to paint with watercolors. Visit her online art shop at  kapowder.com to see paintings of your favorite ski resorts, snowy scenes, and ski culture.

Jackson Hole Resort Review

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Wyoming, spans 2,500 acres and two mountains and resides atop many a skier and snowboarders bucket list. The technical terrain, jaw dropping scenery, old west vibe, nightlife, and fine dining are all reasons to consider a trip to this legendary mountain. The resort consistently bags top honors and awards as a destination resort despite the notoriously challenging travel logistics.

Brighton Resort Review

Brighton Resort is renowned for its close-knit community and local feel. This family-friendly resort is where many Utahans bring their children to learn the art of skiing or snowboarding. Brighton is both nostalgic and a little sleepy, lacking the glitz and glamor of many other Utah ski areas. Affordable prices, good value, and consistently awesome snow keep locals and travelers returning each winter.

Solitude Resort Review

Solitude Mountain Resort exudes the atmosphere of a friendly local's mountain and encompasses a laid-back vibe. It is best known for steep, fall line tree skiing, consistent powder storms, winding groomers, and gentle beginner terrain. The variety of terrain at Solitude makes it an ideal destination for families or groups of different skill levels.

Snowbird Expert Itinerary

While just over a third of Snowbird is marked Expert, there is seemingly no end of steep and deep terrain. Almost anywhere is fair game. Use this step by step itinerary to uncover all of the best spots - it's like having your own private guide.

Snowbird Intermediate Itinerary

Nearly 40% of Snowbird is designated Blue, though this can be misleading as steep lines and limited grooming make many runs feel challenging. Chip's Run from Hidden Peak is good for starting out. This detailed itinerary will show you the best of Snowbird's Intermediate terrain.

Alta Expert Itinerary

Alta is a playground for Experts. More than half of the marked trails are Black. That's just the tip of the iceberg, if you can see it, you can ski it. It's no secret that Alta is best enjoyed with a local, but our guide has insider tips to enjoy it all from Ballroom to Supreme & Catherine's Area.

Alta Intermediate Itinerary

Alta is not only paradise for Experts, despite popular perception. The Intermediate runs encompass many features of the legendary, more advanced terrain - open bowls, powder stashes and trees. Use our private guide to unlock the secrets of Sugarloaf, Supreme, Collins, and Wildcat.
