David Schlisser

Ski Industry Veteran

David Schissler, publisher of the White Book of Ski Areas, has an extensive history in skiing.

He began his skiing career in earnest as a Manufacturer Certified Ski Technician and the manager of ski shops on Main Street in Steamboat Springs, CO and at Crotched Mountain, NH. He has been a member of the Franklin Pierce University Alpine Ski Team, a member of the United States Ski Coaches Association, Head Coach of the Franklin Pierce University Alpine Ski Team, a member of the Eastern Ski Writer’s Association and a Board Member of the North American Snowsports Journalists Association for six years (currently still a credentialed member).

David was an eye witness to Franz Klammer’s historic Gold Medal downhill run at the 1976 XII Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria and saw Ingemar Stenmark win two Golds in the 1980 XIII Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York. He has also attended over 100 FIS Alpine World Cup events in the United States, Canada and Europe. David has skied 100+ days a year at least 10 times, and has skied in all 12 months of the year. As a resident of Evergreen, CO during the ‘90s, he became very familiar with the resorts along the I-70 corridor and often guided visitors. My “bucket list” includes skiing all of the top 50 Ski Resorts in North America (with 43 down and only 7 to go)! David acquired The White Book of Ski Areas in March of 2012
