Okemo is primarily a family friendly resort and much of the Après scene happens in the town of Ludlow. The Sitting Bull, however, offers a straight-off-the-slopes experience for the whole gang. They've got classic nachos, wings and draft beer along side an excellent view of the Nastar race course and beginner areas. Most weekends, the venue has live music of all genres between 3 and 6 PM.
A classic Irish-American pub with all the expected trappings and a rag-tag bunch of locals drinking from their mug-club vessels. Live acoustic or Celtic bands are often playing here. The walls are plastered with patches from just about every law enforcement and emergency agency imaginable. The permanent countdown to the next Saint-Patrick's Day flashes behind the long bar serving a classic mix of draft beers and whiskeys.
Like much of Ludlow, this establishment is unassuming in appearance but sure to please even the most seasoned foodie. Chef Roger Lechthaler is a Vermont native who cooked in several fine restaurants (e.g., the Boston Ritz, Blackberry Farm) before returning home and opening the Grocery. The seasonal specials change almost daily but always include local ingredients. The oysters, pasta and pimento burger are some of our favorites. The house candied bacon ice cream is uniquely Vermont. Craft cocktails and wine pairings are also outstanding.
The quintessential, Okemo après experience. This ramshackle barn has the best tap beer selection around. Stumbling distance from the slopes, expect this to be packed with out-of-towners and locals. The upstairs hide-away has a video arcade to entertain the kids, while parents can enjoy the legendary wings.
Jackson Gore Base Area & mid-mountain near Sugar House
A Vermont staple, treat kids and adults alike to a sweet reward for an active day. There are two separate cabins nestled on the slopes with sweet Belgian waffles on offer. Their secret is the sugar nibs that form a caramelized exterior with a pillow-like interior. If you're feeling extra decadent, have it drizzled with chocolate. You will smell the place before you see it.
Co-owned by and adjacent to the The Wine & Cheese Depot, make for an exceptional wine selection. Saddle up to the bar for a glass…or two, there are so many to choose from. Come for a drink, or stay and enjoy some food pairings. The seasonal small plates change frequently and are all locally sourced. The cheese boards and thin-crusted pizzas are some of our favorites.
Home to a recent Vermont Bartender of the Year event, this Main Street, Ludlow establishment offers an inspired cocktail list in a newly renovated motel bar. Expect unexpected combinations with craft liquors, local beers and curated wines.
